History
For decades Kristi Overton Johnson took to the waters of the world with passion totally committed to be a champion water skier. God blessed that “desire of her heart” with many world records and titles – but some years ago He impressed on her heart to use this platform to reach people with His life-changing love and bring hope, healing, and restoration to hurting people.
In 2003 God opened the door for Kristi to found “In His Wakes”, a not-for-profit water sports ministry that challenges individuals to “get off the dock” and take to the water with Christ so they can experience victory, hope, and purpose in their lives.
During Kristi’s experiences in the ministries of In His Wakes, she came to realize the importance of investing in the life of another.
“For so long, my life was centered around me and what I could accomplish for myself,” Kristi says. “Through In His Wakes, God opened my eyes to the incredible internal pain enslaving people… pain caused by fear, insecurities, circumstances, past experiences, guilt, and shame.”
“By having a hands-on approach in the ministries of In His Wakes, I saw the impact of looking someone in the eye and saying, ‘you are special, your life has purpose, and there is hope for you.’”
“I saw the impact of taking time to show someone how to do something they could never do alone. I saw how God’s love shown through simple words and actions and through ordinary people and activities could literally change someone’s life FOREVER.”
This realization led Kristi to incorporate Kristi Overton Johnson Ministries in 2009, a ministry that aims to bring healing, hope and restoration to people world-wide.
KOJM consists of In His Wakes, REFRESH! ( a national and international writing, singing and teaching ministry), and Champion’s Heart (a Florida based life resource center).
“It is my desire that our ministries be a conduit of God’s grace and a reflection of His love and mercy so that broken hearts can be healed and freedom can be obtained by those who have been held captive by circumstances, past choices, guilt and shame.”
